Who the programme is built for
IIM Mumbai's Blended Post Graduate Program in Management – MBA (MBA–BPGP) is designed for mid-to-senior-level working professionals who want to strengthen their management expertise and leadership without leaving work. It covers operations, supply chain, marketing, finance, data science, environment and HR, with specialisation in the second year.
Before you compare it with other MBAs, test the fit. Answer the ten questions below honestly — each one is tied to what the programme page says.
The 10-question fit check
| # | Question | What the programme page says |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Do you have 3+ years of relevant experience after graduation? | A minimum of three years in any business organisation; the page still cites 31 December 2025 as the cut-off, so confirm it for your batch |
| 2 | Do you hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50%? | 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST and PwD candidates) |
| 3 | Do you have a valid CAT, GMAT or GRE score — or will you sit IMAT? | A score not older than five years, or IMAT, IIM Mumbai's own test on the CAT pattern; Round 1 IMAT is on 22 November 2026 |
| 4 | Can you give Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for two years? | Classes run on those days; session timings are not published |
| 5 | Can you attend two one-week campus immersions and pay for the trip? | Mandatory, in the 2nd week of January 2028 and the 1st week of January 2029; travel, lodging and boarding are borne by participants |
| 6 | Can you fund a plan that suits you? | ₹15,00,000 on the annual plan or ₹16,00,000 on the module-wise plan, inclusive of taxes, with a ₹1,00,000 seat-booking deposit first |
| 7 | Do you want a full management curriculum, not a single skill? | Eight modules and 31 courses — 16 core and 15 electives — plus a group project and a capstone |
| 8 | Does the subject mix interest you? | Year-1 core includes Operations Management, Industrial Engineering for Productivity, Supply Chain Management, Data Science and Optimisation & Decision Techniques, alongside marketing, finance and HR |
| 9 | Are you ready for degree-level assessment? | Individual and group work, assignments, presentations, case studies and a written examination |
| 10 | Are your expectations realistic? | The page does not promise placement or career advancement |
How to read your answers
- 9–10 yes: a strong fit — move on to the application timeline
- 6–8 yes: a workable fit; list the 'no' answers and see which you can fix before the deadline
- Fewer than 6: consider a shorter or differently structured route first
This is a thinking tool, not a scientific score — a single 'no' on eligibility matters more than three 'yes' answers elsewhere.
Profiles that tend to fit
- Managers heading toward broader roles who need finance, operations, marketing and people frameworks together
- Professionals whose work touches operations, supply chain, analytics or projects
- Consultants who want formal management depth to match their field experience
- Founders — check whether experience in your own business counts as work experience in 'any business organisation'
Profiles that may want another route
- Fewer than three years of experience — build experience first or look at shorter programmes
- You need one focused capability rather than a general MBA — read MBA vs project management certificate
- You cannot travel in January 2028 or January 2029
- You want a fully online programme with no campus time — see online MBAs under ₹2 lakh
